Garage Door Opener Installation
All opener types. All hours.
Having a reliable garage door opener is a necessity if you own or maintain a garage. Breakdowns occur when openers are not properly installed, if they are not rated for the garage door, or from normal wear and tear over time.
An easy way to determine if the problem is with your opener:
- Close the garage door if possible.
- Pull the emergency release cord along the track.
- Lift the door to see if it opens and closes smoothly.
If you cannot open and close the garage door, then problem is likely with your track, roller or springs instead of the opener itself. This will likely require professional servicing or a new garage door opener installation.
Common Reasons Why Garage Openers Fail
Sensors are not aligned or obstructed
If the door opens, but does not close, then the issue is likely from the safety sensor. Safety sensors, found at the bottom of either track, can be bumped, blocked or disrupted by direct sunlight. All of these issues can lead to your garage door not closing. You can attempt to adjust the sensors to fix the issue. If the issue is from sunlight, you will likely need to upgrade to a new sensor that performs better in direct sunlight.
Remote doesn’t work, but wall switch does
This is usually from dead batteries that are easy to replace. However, if new batteries do not fix the issue, you may need to replace the remote.
Other issues that may require professional service
- No power to the opener. This is likely a circuit board issue that should be repaired by a professional or complete replacment of the opener.
- Opener makes noises, but doesn’t move. It is likely that the trolley carriage or main gear have failed.
- Door won’t open or close all the way. This is usually the result of a chain or track issue that should be serviced by a professional.
Most service requests are emergencies for garage door openers that suddenly fail. In some instances, your opener may be under warranty and repairable. We will provide a cost analysis to help you determine if replacing the opener is more cost-effective than repairing it.
